Inti Raymi or Festival of the Sun in Peru

Inti Raymi is a nine-day winter solstice celebration worshiping an Incan god and involves colourful costumes, lavish banquets, festive music, and historical recreations.

As the world around us becomes increasingly high-tech, and scientific fact becomes the central pillar of our society, it’s comforting to know that there are still places that take time to pay homage to our primordial past, particularly those that allow us to suspend our belief and give into magic and mythology. For one such experience, there is Into Raymi, a nine-day winter solstice celebration worshiping the Incan god Inti in the city of Cusco. Involving colorful costumes, lavish banquets, festive music, an elaborate reenactment of ancient Inca rituals, and culminating in a royal procession to an ancient fortress—if its magic and mythology you’re looking for, you’ve come to the right place.

My TalkTalkBnb Experience in Nantes

“A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles”

–Tim Cahill

Brooke and her family welcomed me into their home this past weekend and the interesting part was, I was in France, but she and her husband are American so we had a combination of cultures floating around! They are moving to Spain soon, so they were looking to practise their Spanish skills.

Coffee time getting to know each other. Baby Cameron aka “Cami” loved me from the first HOLA ;)

We spent the afternoon chatting in Spanish and preparing dinner. First day menu : American style but Spanish always spoken!

Hamburgers are culture too! Las mejores hamburguesas

As bedtime arrived, we spent some time choosing which story to read to Cami. He was confused when I started reading his favorite book in Spanish, but he loved it just the same. ¡Es tan lindo! <3

Why is it so hard to memorize new words?

Memorizing new terms seems a difficult task for many reasons. In general, the brain tends to select the information that it receives, discarding what it considers unnecessary. Imagine remembering every single detail that enters your brain: you would remember thousands of words effortlessly, but would also be paying a terrible price: your brain would be constantly fighting against a permanent, unwanted and annoying interference of useless information. Fortunately, our brain works on its own rhythm and it “self-regulates” when it comes to organizing information.
